| Goals
of Healthier
New Brunswick 2010 |
In order to achieve a healthier community for children and future
generations, the health of people of all ages must be addressed.
To better focus educational and preventive health care interventions,
Healthier New Brunswick 2010 will look at all the influences on
a child’s health. Interventions will be targeted to individuals,
families, neighborhoods, the larger community and when appropriate,
to the city as a whole. Partnership with the New Brunswick Public
Schools will be particularly important in helping us to achieve
our goals.

Health Needs |
Despite the great physical, economic and social progress of New
Brunswick’s revival, many residents still suffer from unacceptably
high rates of disease, disability and death. Many lack access to
comprehensive health care. African-Americans and Hispanics experience
higher rates of infant mortality, cancer and HIV/AIDS than Caucasian
residents of New Brunswick and the state.
